The Argyle Eagles defeated the Dallas Carter Cowboys 56-14, making this the second week in a row Argyle has thoroughly dominated their opponent.

Argyle started off the game hot with a balanced offensive attack, scoring 35 points in the first half.

“We ran the ball really well and threw when we needed to throw it,” WR Hunter Markwardt said. “We did a good job and scored a bunch of touchdowns.”

Dallas Carter had some very athletic players but Argyle made the win look easy as they focused on getting the ball down field to their wide outs.

“I think we did pretty good,” TE J.C. Chalk said. “One thing we didn’t do is take them for granted, which is really good. I think we played really hard on each side of the ball  and that’s what enabled us to play so well.”

The defense played just as well as their offense keeping the opposing team to zero points for an entire half for the second straight week.

“Our defense is finally coming together,” Markwardt said, “and our offense keeps scoring points every week. Keep doing that and we’ll be fine.”

The Eagles were able to give their backup players plenty of playing time which should help the team’s depth as they approach the playoffs.

“I think we should focus on taking one game at a time,” Chalk said. “It’s good that we’re getting everyone playing time so we can keep it rolling during the playoffs. It’s been fun to watch everyone get a chance to make a spot for themselves.”

QB Cooper Rodgers had several highlights throughout the game, and the lead he built allowed sophomore Dane Ledford to start the second half.

“I love quarterback,” Ledford said. “Right now Cooper is doing amazing. He’s doing really good this year so I’m looking forward to next year but this year, Cooper is the man.”

Argyle still has a long way to a state championship repeat, but the players are confident that their success will continue.

“We’re just going to keep on putting up big numbers and do what we do,” Ledford said. “It doesn’t matter if they’re really good, we just have to concentrate and play our game.”
