As August brings the rolling end of a summer for the student body, it begins the fast-paced, vigorous training camp for the marching band. On July 31, the infamous 3-a-days began for all students part of the five time state winning band. With every other year being a state year, this 2014-15 school year has the whole band setting their sites on bringing home yet another win.

Before the band can make it to the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, where the state competition is being held, it is crucial for all members to attend 3-a-days. This summer camp is extremely intense with members arriving at 7:00 in the morning and working on various aspects of performance until 9:00 at night. With only two breaks for lunch and dinner, the whole experience pushes the students to their limits. However, their success is a direct result of their dedication.

“We just keep pushing ourselves closer and closer to being perfect,” Sophmore and French Horn player Haley Emerson said. “We keep pushing until the end and work hard everyday together as a family.”
