Argyle Lady Eagle’s first volleyball game ended in a 3-0 victory to set a great tone for the beginning of the season.

The game started off strong, with Argyle claiming an 8-1 lead over Frisco Independence in the first set. A lot of the team’s points came from some strong net defense by senior team captain Katy Keenan along with good strikes by junior Alexa Bass. You could easily tell that the first group has worked together a lot, and their chemistry didn’t dwindle with any of the substitutions.

After subbing in juniors Ari Styron and Strealy Sizelove, the team finished out the set with a 25-12 victory.

Following a brief recess, the second set had more substitutions and the game was a bit closer, but the Lady Eagles still won by a comfortable 25-19 margin to begin the third and final set.

The third set saw more impressive plays by the likes of Juniors Eighmy Dobbins, Strealy Sizelove, and Alexa Bass. No matter who was subbed in or out, Argyle easily managed to put away the Frisco Independence Knights 25-15, and start the season with an impressive 3-0 victory.

“I think we did good, we have some things that were rusty but we’re going to work on them,” junior Ari Styron said. “I think our defense is better than last year, so hopefully we can reach State this year and win.”

The Lady Eagles next game is in the Kick Off Classic tournament on August 14th and 16th, and their next home game will be against Prosper High on August 15th at 5:00.
