Softball Girls Stun at Teacher Appreciation Game

Softball+Girls+Stun+at+Teacher+Appreciation+Game

Softball recently held their Annual Teacher Appreciation Game which recognizes teachers who have helped players throughout their high school career. Each player gets to nominate one teacher to be recognized at the game, and the following teachers were recognized:  Jeanna Sutton (AHS), Taylor Bales (AMS), Mandi Pels (HES), Mary Betzhold (AHS), Sharon Romero (AHS) , Edie Collins (AMS), Gayla Burnett (AHS/Retired), Kimberly Kass (AHS), Trip Pool (AHS), Russell Perkins (AHS), Terra Lyon (AHS), Marla Warden (AHS), and Grady Roller (Retired).

Also, during the game, pitcher Alyssa Bruton pitched a no-hitter shutout. This is very close to throwing a perfect game and is a rare thing in softball.

“A combination of great pitching, great defense, and scores when we needed them sealed our 2-0 victory over Ranchview which has put us currently in 2nd ahead of Celina,” coach Natalie Coonrod said. “With 3 games to go the softball program is most definitely taking off!”

Coach Coonrod would like everyone to congratulate the girls on this achievement, and let them know how proud you are of it.

The girls next game will be at Frisco Lone Star on Saturday at 12:00, and the following Tuesday will be a home game against Aubrey at 5:00. Not only is this their last home game, but it is also both senior and parent night. To finish off the season, the girls will be playing at Celina next Friday at 5:30.
