Senior night provided an exciting final home game for the softball team. Along with honoring the seniors who will be graduating in the next few months, the girls earned themselves a spot in the playoffs, and sophomore Kate Weaver scored the first home run of her career. The final score was 13-0 against Aubrey.

Adilen Gonzalez, senior and Hardin-Simmons commit, had mixed feelings playing her last home game.

“It was a sad feeling knowing that this was the last game I would play on the Argyle field,” Gonzalez said, “but knowing that this wasn’t the last time we would play as a team was something great too. Our team has come so far this year and being a senior and helping my team make it to playoffs is a huge accomplishment for us. It really just signaled the beginning of what is to come.”

Senior Alyssa Bruton, who played a close-to-perfect game against Aubrey with 11 strike outs and 1 hit shut out, believes positive attitude is important going into playoffs.

“We are just going to take it one game at a time, and try to stick together as a team,” Bruton said. “The biggest difference between this team and any other team is I feel like we play for each other so well. We want to make an out or get the hit for the teammate standing next to us.”

The girls are in high spirits about playoffs, so come out and support the Lady Eagles!
