Community Meeting to be held Thursday at AHS to Discuss Bond

This Thursday April 3, at 6:30 p.m., the high school will be holding a community meeting open to all Argyle citizens in the lecture hall. This meeting will be covering the information regarding the bond proposal that includes plans for buildings, renovations, additions, and technology upgrades for Argyle ISD.

Many students at the school were curious about the nature of how a bond worked, so we asked Principal Jeff Butts about the process.

“A bond is something that you go out to the voters for,” Butts said. “It is mostly based on your tax values in your community.”

While many districts have a strong commercial tax base to pull funds from, Argyle relies heavily on revenues from home values.

“Our bond is going to be for 45 million, but some of that is based on our actual growth,” Butts said. “That’s about 25 million of it. Then it raises to about 42 million of estimated future growth. The other 3 million is for growth beyond that.”

The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees voted on the bond election to be held on May 10. The meeting on April 3 is strictly informative and no voting as of now will occur.
