After ending regionals with a first place finish, the boys golf team will be making the journey to state for the third consecutive year. This is the second straight year for the team to come out as the region champions.

Highlights of regionals included a sixth place finish from both Tommy Parker and Nick Louy and a ninth place finish from Alex Isakson. Parker ended the day with a score of 75-80-155, Louy finished with a 78-77-155, and Isakson finished with a 81-76-157. Contributing to the teams first place finish was Colton Katzen with a final score of 77-84-161, along with Lance Roden who shot a 83-82-165, and individual region qualifier and medalist Matt Garnett who finished with a 83-79-162. The team as a whole shot a 311-315-626.

With state quickly approaching the team is currently preparing to hopefully avenge the final results from last years state championship.

“For every person it’s really different what we have to do to get ready and for that we begin to work on our own a lot around this time of year to prepare ourselves for state,” senior Colton Katzen said. “What we have been thinking about for almost a year now is winning state after losing by just one shot last year.”

The boys golf team will be traveling to the Wolf Dancer Golf Course in Bastrop for the state championship. They will play on April 28-29, and would love support from their fellow Eagles.
