Last Friday, Mar. 21, UIL held their district meet at home. It was a great meet and Argyle UIL triumphed once again, winning the district trophy.
Almost every one of the teams came out on top, but this year there was extra pressure on seasoned headline writer senior Kelsey Peiser.
“I was nervous because I went to state last year,” Peiser said. “So I felt the need to do as well this year. I’m happy I won.”
Senior Kim Strelke, who recently began competing in Informative Speaking, was nervous but well prepared for taking first place.
“I just practiced a lot of speeches with Mrs. Fenter,” Strelke said. “It was really nerve-wracking because it was like the first official meet.”
Of course, the math and biology teams won by a landslide.
“Yeah, I think Mr. McCurdy was really pleased with how we all did,” senior Colton Katzen said. “It proved that all our work is paying off.”
The spelling team dominated the meet as well, winning first, second, and third places at the meet.
“It was pretty crazy that we won the top three spots,” senior Catherine Read said. “I’m excited for region and I have a lot of confidence in our team.”
