Varsity Soccer Triumphs Over Weekend Tournaments

Over the weekend, both boys and girls varsity soccer teams participated in tournaments.

The Girls Varsity went undefeated at their 4A Azle High School Soccer Tournament. On Thursday, the first day of the three day tournament,  the Argyle beat San Angelo Lake View High School 1-0. Freshman Lauren Oellermann scored the goal for Argyle with the help of senior Lindsey Eckert. On Friday, the girls defeated Little Elm High School 2-1. Junior Madison Lee led her team to victory scoring both goals. Argyle then tied Azle High School and because Azle had beaten Little Elm without letting them score any goals, Azle’s team advanced to the championship.  On Saturday, the final day, Argyle beat Burleson High School 3-1. The goals were scored by junior, Cassie Hargrove,s who was assisted by Lauren Oellermann, senior Hannah Neece, and senior Lindsey Eckert with Neece’s assistance.  The girls finished third in their first tournament of the season.

The Boys Varsity went 5-0 and won the Princeton tournament. The team came out victorious and it was a great start to their season. They one their first game against Ferris High School 2-1. Ferris scored their one goal with a PK kick with no time left but in the end Argyle still advanced. They then triumphed 6-0 against Anna High School with Brian Williams scoring 2 goals, Caleb Holt scoring 2 goals, and Senior Tyler Case and Junior Cory each scoring 1 goal. During the championship again against Ferris High School once again, Argyle came out on top. The score was 1-0 and the goal was scored by Brian Williams with the assistance of Seth Fountain.

The boys also played Decatur, winning 3-1. Goals by Drew Estrada, Brian Williams, and assist by Seth Fountain.
