Argyle’s hard fought 45-38 victory over Gilmore in the quarter-final round on Nov. 29 sends the eagles one game closer to that coveted state game on Dec. 20, but they are taking it ‘game by game’, and the next playoff round will take place at Waco Midway at 6:30 Monday, Dec. 9, where the eagles will take on the Gladewater Bears (7-6).
Throughout this season Argyle has had continued success even with the loss of one of the team’s star linebackers, Sam Sizelove. The team ended its regular season with a 63-13 win over Celina, which was thought to be their toughest District competitor.
The Argyle football team has been ranked one of the top in the State from the beginning of the season. Many have had high expectations for the team and the players have worked hard to meet those expectations.
When asked how he felt about the Eagle’s winning season so far, Nick Ralston, a junior running back for the team, stated that “We’ve been tested on all aspects of our team, and I know we’re really tough.” He went on to say that “Winning is better than losing so I’m happy.”
However, the season is not over yet and most of the team agrees with Ralston when he says that “It means nothing until we win state, and we have to take it game by game.”
