Argyle ISD has canceled school again this Tuesday, Dec. 10, making a five-day weekend for the students of Argyle schools. The road conditions improved for a short time on Monday afternoon, only to freeze back over at night.
Many cars have been sliding on said ice into ditches, some families even unable to get out of their driveways. And for Argyle teachers, many who living further north, most can’t get to the school.
If one even dares to venture outside the home due to the overwhelming need to just get out of the house or even for something so rational as to go food shopping, they would find that the grocery stores have been cleared out of their stock, left barren by people taking precautions just in case the weather gets worse, and many produce and meat trucks were unable to make deliveries due to the icy roads.
The school delay has caused other problems, as NCTC final exams are scheduled for this week. Students need to check their teachers websites and look for emails on class or exam updates, but realize that exam and grades for the college classes can’t be changed due to the timeline for teachers submitting final grades.
The forecast shows that Tuesday will provide ice-melting temperatures plus some sun, so hopefully school will be back in session on Wednesday.
