Timing is everything.  Literally.

National competitions bring lots of stress, and for senior Darby Richhart, working under the pressure of a print deadline, a video deadline, a photo shoot deadline, all during a hectic week of fun-filled homecoming activities and to top it off, a week filled with at least five advanced level tests that teachers decided to pile on to keep some kids learning, well lets just say, the week the photo was due to the national headquarters was a bit hectic.

But that’s not really the timing that mattered most for the photo portrait contest.  It had more to do with timing and lighting and the perfect pairing of the two.

Darby’s photo, a portrait of senior Allison Gant was the only photo that Richhart entered into the contest.

Students had to pick only one photo, and competed against a national panel of over 2,000 contestants in the write-off competitions.  It is a huge accomplishment to achieve an ‘Excellent’ rating for this category.
