With a personal best time of 11:51.10, freshman Laina Sorensen sprinted to the finish among a highly elite crew of cross country runners this past Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas. Sorensen, who was competing in her first UIL state championship race, had originally set out to make the top ten, but was able to pull in with a 3rd place finish, just barely missing the second place slot as junior Emily Estrada from Clint Mountain View squeezed by in the last mili-second with a time of 11:50.58. First place in the 3A girls division was taken by junior Kelsie Warren from College Station with a time of 11:24.60.
