Following another victorious game, the volleyball team held a ceremony to remember and honor the life of former 4-year varsity player, Sawyer Camillo. Throughout the ceremony, Sawyer’s teammates, family, and friends stood up to speak about the countless ways she touched their lives. Coach Oberle spoke of how deeply respected she was by her school, teammates, opponents, coaches, and the entire community. This last Friday, the number 14 was retired forever by the team that Sawyer devoted so much to.
Katy Keenan, Morgan Thompson, Blair O’Brien and her sisters, Lindsey Eckert, and Brooke Robertson, all formal teammates of Sawyer, shared moments about their friendships with her.
Mr. and Mrs. Camillo spoke lastly about their daughter and their gratitude towards the Argyle community. Mrs. Camillo read aloud the poem, The Dash, for all that attended the ceremony. Sawyer, her attribution to the volleyball team, and her #14 jersey will always be a legacy at Argyle High School – never to be forgotten.
